WrB Responsible Gambling, Clarion’s free monthly webinar series, are delighted to announce a fundraising partnership with UK charities GamCare and Gordon Moody Association with more options due to join the roster soon.

The donation page will be live until February 2019 and aims to raise £10,000 total for a selection of causes which provide problem gambling helplines, support groups, advice and treatment and rehabilitation centres.

GamCare operates the National Gambling HelpLine, providing information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling. Advisers are available every day on Freephone 0808 8020 133 or via web chat at gamcare.org.uk. The charity also offer a range of free treatment across England, Scotland and Wales, as well as a moderated Forum and daily chatrooms so that people can speak to others experiencing similar issues and seek support.

Gordon Moody Association offers a safe and secure environment for residential treatment of individuals with the most serious gambling addictions where staff are trained specifically to help rehabilitate gambling addicts towards recovery. They also provide a retreat and counselling programme, recovery housing with outreach support and an on-line international Gambling therapy service.

The fundraising initiative follows on from Consumer Protection Zone at ICE London where £35,000 was raised, and will dovetail with 2020’s edition.

Rob Mabbett, Therapy Manager at Gordon Moody, speaking on Episode 3 of the webinar series, September 25th on Interaction and Intervention, said: “We are thrilled to be involved with this latest initiative from Clarion and am sure that it will be successful in raising much needed funds for the support and treatment of problem gambling. I hope the WrB webinar series will provide useful information and insight and that our collaborative approach to promote meaningful interactions and interventions will help those affected by problem gambling find the help and support they need.”

Paul Carpenter, Head of Industry Services at GamCare, added: “We hugely welcome WrB’s support in providing opportunities for individuals and organisations to donate towards our range of prevention and support services. GamCare provides much needed help to those experiencing harm from gambling, as well as working on a number of initiatives to reduce the risk of gambling problems developing. We also support WRB’s approach in working with the gambling industry in continuing to improve the approaches gambling operators have in minimising gambling harms experienced by their customers. This is complementary to our work in providing social responsibility training and accreditation for the sector, including through our Safer Gambling Standard.”
