Nevada’s Nugget Casino Resort lays off 154 staff

Marnell Gaming-owned Nugget Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada, has announced that it is to permanently lay off 154 of its employees.

The staff, which currently hold roles across a number areas of the business, will have their employment officially terminated on November 15 this year.

The layoffs include 17 table dealers, seven poker dealers, 22 cooks, seven food servers and five stewards.

Nugget Casino Resort did not disclose the reason behind the decision, but it did state that the layoffs will impact less than 33% of its workforce.

Opened in 1955, the Nugget Casino Resort was previously known as Dick Graves’ Nugget between 1955 and 1960, and also as John Ascuaga’s Nugget from 1960 to 2013.
