Portugal iGaming Dashboard – August 2018

| By Joanne Christie
Regulated operators enjoyed their best quarter yet in Q2 of 2018, with sports betting largely responsible for the rise

iGaming Business and Ficom Leisure are pleased to present the Portugal iGaming Dashboard, providing revenue, product and game metrics on the dot.pt regulated market.

The data is updated quarterly following the official release of the figures by Portuguese regulator the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ).

Regulated operators enjoyed their best quarter yet in Q2 of 2018, with GGR of €37.3m, up 10.4% on Q1 and 47.4% on the same period the previous year.

It was largely sports betting that led the rise, rebounding to match the record €20.5m GGR of the last quarter of last year after a flat Q1. Interestingly, despite the second quarter including the first half of the World Cup, football's percentage of the sports betting market actually dropped slightly.

Gaming, including poker, had its most successful quarter to date, rising to €16.8m from €16.4m the previous quarter. Slots continued to gain in market share, rising to 69.6% from 67.9% the previous quarter. French roulette and blackjack again saw their market shares fall.
