Red Star Poker has revealed plans to migrate to Playtech's iPoker network, after it was recently confirmed that its previous poker platform, the Microgaming Poker Network (MPN), will close next year.

Focused on Eastern Europe, Red Star Poker only joined the MPN in August this year. A month later, Microgaming announced it is to close the network in 2020 following an extensive internal review of its portfolio and strategy.

Red Star Poker, which was established in 2005, will gain access to the Playtech Poker Network liquidity pool, software and services.

“At a time when the Poker market is facing undeniable challenges, at Playtech we are completely committed to addressing those challenges head-on,” Playtech chief operating officer Shimon Akad said.

“Red Star’s decision to collaborate with us is a testament to our long-term investment in our poker network and its ongoing development – and of course our commitment to our operators.”

Playtech also revealed that a number of other online poker collaborations are also currently in the pipeline, but did not confirm the identity of the operators involved.
