Spain revels in further online gaming revenue growth

The Spanish online gambling market continued to expand in the third quarter, as national gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) revealed year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter revenue growth.
For the three months to September 30, revenue from the regulated market came in at €140.5m ($163.6m), 37.3% more than in the third quarter of last year and 16.6% higher than the second quarter of the current year.
Sports betting revenue hiked 37% year-on-year to just under €77m, while online casino revenue also increased by 54.2% to €43.9m in the quarter.
Slots remain the main source of income for the online casino sector, contributing €22.3m, or 50.9%, to the overall revenue figure, with live roulette in second with €9.1m.
Elsewhere, online poker showed signs of improvements with revenue from this section of the market heralding revenue of €14.7m, up 6.8% on last year.
In addition, bingo revenue increased 30.5% year-on-year to €2.9m.
