International Game Technology (IGT) has joined forces with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) in Canada to launch what it said is the first omni-channel progressive prize pool jackpot in North America.

‘Powerbucks’ will link the jackpot pool from the land-based ‘Powerhits’ slot games at BCLC’s 33 gaming sites with mobile and desktop versions of the game that can now be found on PlayNow.com in both British Columbia and Manitoba.

The progressive jackpot will start at C$1 million (€680,700/US$763,800), while a static jackpot of C$1 million will also be on offer.

Powerbucks players betting between C$0.50 and C$2.99 are eligible for the static jackpot, with those wagering a minimum of $3 gaining access to the progressive jackpot.

“Powerbucks delivers a whole new jackpot experience to PlayNow.com players that is unique in North America,” BCLC vice-president of e-gaming Monica Bohm said.

“Players can play Powerbucks for a chance to win jackpots of C$1 million or more anytime from their mobile devices, home computers or local casinos.”

David Flinn, IGT regional vice-president, Canada, added: “Powerbucks extends IGT's legacy in developing omni-channel products that push the envelope of innovation and transform the way players enjoy gaming entertainment.”
