888sport is tapping into Pokémon Go fever with the introduction of a new geo-targeting game which lets English football fans search for free-bet offers when near to a stadium.

Free Bet Hunt will be available at Premier League fixtures throughout the season as well as the stadiums of the four second-tier Championship teams – Birmingham City, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End – which are sponsored by 888sport.

When playing the Free Bet Hunt game, which is available via the app and mobile website, players will be shown a map with the exact free bets location. Free bets can be found outside the stadium, not in the stadium themselves, which means a ticket to watch the fixture itself is not required.

Pokémon Go was attracting as many 45 million players per day following its launch last month.

Itai Pazner, senior vice-president and head of B2C at 888, said: “The Free Bet Hunt mobile game is designed to provide football fans with an innovative, interactive way to make their football predictions without taking anything away from the excitement and anticipation surrounding the pre-match build-up.

“The great thing about this game is that fans don’t necessarily have to be going to the match in order to take part. The initiative is another major step in providing football fans with a fully immersive betting experience and ensuring that no matter the location or time in the day, fans have the opportunity to make their bets around a match day.”
