Mirror extends with Fantasy iTeam
The Daily Mirror, the UK newspaper, has renewed its partnership with fantasy football mobile application Fantasy iTeam.
The extended deal will cover the Euro 2016 national football team tournament, which began on Friday in France, as well as the 2016-17 English Premier League and Uefa Champions League club competitions.
The two parties commenced their partnership ahead of the 2015-16 season, with the Mirror reporting 20 million page impressions and more than a million app launches.
The Mirror Fantasy Football iTeam app had over 600,000 unique users during the 2015/16 season, with the newspaper hoping to surpass one million in the next campaign.
The free-to-play app allows players to set up private leagues as well as take part in head-to-head challenges, join regional mini leagues and enter a number of competitions.
The app also benefits from real-time transfers, a live and interactive newsfeed, as well as instant scores and squad news.
The app will be promoted through print and digital channels in the Daily Mirror and Irish Mirror, as well as several regional titles, such as Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Birmingham Mail, The Chronicle, South Wales Echo, Western Mail and Belfast Live.
Mark O’Donnell, head of betting and gaming at Trinity Mirror Solutions, parent company of the Mirror, said: “Mirror readers absolutely loved Mirror Fantasy Football iTeam last season and it’s great that fans will be able to experience it again for the 2016/17 season.
“Our mobile audience is growing fast on the Mirror, and Fantasy iTeam are the leading mobile fantasy football provider, so we’re a perfect match.”
Phil Shaw, commercial director at Fantasy iTeam, added: “It’s now about building on the momentum we’ve already achieved and we’ve got some exciting plans for the Mirror Fantasy iTeam app this season.”
