New Jersey gaming soars in July
New Jersey reported a 7% year-on-year rise in gambling revenues during July thanks to growth in both land-based and online activity.
While online gaming registered a huge 39% spike in takings, the larger land-based segment was responsible for the majority of the increase in the US state.
According to figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, overall revenue was at $275.3 million (€246.4 million) for the month, with Atlantic City’s brick-and-mortar casinos bringing in $257.9 million, up 5% on July 2015.
Online gaming generated revenue of $17.4 million, which was a significant increase on July 2015, and also 6% higher than June 2016.
The Borgata Casino was the top overall performer in the state, earning $84.8 million, which was an increase of 12% year-on-year. Online gambling for the venue was just under $4 million, while land-based operations brought in $84.8 million.
Caesars saw an increase of 8% in revenues to $31.2 million for the month, with a 27% surge in online takings to $3.4 million. Golden Nugget revenues were up 9.7% to $25.1 million.
