Spain iGaming Dashboard: Q2 2018

The data is updated quarterly following the official release of the figures by Spanish regulator the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ).

Spain's regulated igaming operators had their best month ever in June and with the government having recently cut tax rates, the dot.es market looks set for further growth in future.
The record-breaking month was likely due to the World Cup and overall, GGR for the second quarter of this year was only marginally up on the first quarter. At €167.3m it was, however, a more than 40% increase on the same period the previous year.
While sports betting was the star performer for the quarter, casino revenues held up, remaining flat despite the World Cup capturing punters' attention. Poker, on the other hand, was the laggard during the quarter.
Poker's 9.4% fall in GGR to €19.45m was particularly disappointing after the vertical showed signs of a rebound in the first quarter following the shared liquidity pact between Spain and France. Many had been expecting further growth as Portugal had joined the pool in May.
