iGaming Business and Ficom Leisure are pleased to present the Portugal iGaming Dashboard, providing revenue, product and game metrics on the dot.pt regulated market.
The data is updated quarterly following the official release of the figures by Portuguese regulator the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ).
The first full year of the regulated market in Portugal saw dot.pt operators generate a total of €122.6m across all products, with sports betting accounting for 56% of this.
The SRIJ has to date issued three licences for online sports betting since Betclic obtained the first licence in May 2016, Bet Entertainment (bet.pt), and Society Figuera Praia (for casinoportugual.pt) taking the others for a product taxed at a prohibitive 8-16% of turnover.
Casino and poker, taxed at a more reasonable 15-30% of gross gaming revenue with this capped once annual income reaches €10m, has seen seven operators obtain licences for products including slots and variants of blackjack and roulette, with Stars being the sole licensee for online poker.
Slots accounted for 61% of casino revenue in the regulated Portuguese market in 2017, followed by French roulette with 26.23%.
In sports betting, football dominated activity with 76.6% of GGR, well ahead of tennis with 12.4% of the total for 2017.
