Italy iGaming Dashboard: October 2019
A solid casino performance and the second calendar month of action in Europe's major football leagues pushed the Italian igaming market to a return of €146.3m in revenues last month, representing an approximate 8% year-on-year improvement.
The largest product segment of casino – accounting for close to 50% of dot.it GGR last month – generated €71.77m for operators in September, equating to a 22% year-on-year and 7% month-over-month uplift.
Italian-regulated remote sports betting generated €61.05m off total turnover of €721.8m at a margin of 8.5%, continuing the improvement seen last month after Europe’s major football leagues kicked off following the summer break (for more on this see also Optimove's recent analysis).
Bet365 retained its market share lead in remote sports betting with 16.3% of total GGR, showing no sign, at least yet, of the impact of the Italian ad ban suggested by analysts to potentially favour its local rivals with land-based brand presence via their retail arms.
PokerStars also stayed atop the casino and poker segments, with 9.9% of casino/slots GGR as well as 59.3% of tournament and 40.5% of cash game poker revenues.
