MGA grants B2B licence to GGPoker Network

GGPoker Network announced today that it has been awarded a Type 3 Gaming Services licence by the Malta Gaming Authority.

The new B2B licence will allow the company to expand its product reach further into new markets, the supplier said, and complements its British licence, awarded by the Gambling Commission

It comes after GGPoker struck supply deals with partners including TotoGaming and OlyBet  earlier this year. The network will also be used to host the World Series of Poker's Super Circuit Online tournament series, which sees the physical events move into digital channels as a result of novel coronavirus (Covid-19). 

“It’s always a good sign and an honor to receive a license from Malta Gaming Authority and we could not be more enthused,” GGPoker network head Jean-Christophe Antoine commented.

“We look forward to signing new partnerships to continue making online poker available all around the world.”

GGPoker is the latest business to secure an MGA licence, after the likes of content developer Spinomenal and esports betting operator Esports Entertainment Group were certified by the regulator in May.

However the island's licensees are facing a significant decline in revenue as a result of Covid-19, with Type 2 (betting) licensees expected to see revenue fall 40% below initial predictions for 2020. 

B2B licence holders, meanwhile, expect revenue to fall 20% below projections. As many as 38% of B2B licensees have also postponed investment activity planned for 2020, due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
