Nevada casinos generated $26.2bn (€21.4bn) in gambling revenue during 2017, surpassing a record set in the US state prior to the recession in 2007.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that this amount was up 3.7% on 2016, while casino income of $1.6bn for the 12 months to December 31, 2017, was also up 59% year-on-year.
Casinos paid $852.2m in gambling taxes and feed during the past year, which amounted to 7.7% of overall revenue.
The Las Vegas Strip proved to be the most popular area for gambling in the state last year, with revenue up 3.9% year-on-year to $17.7bn and profit rocketing by 191.4% to $814m.
In comparison, casinos in Downtown Las Vegas collected $1.2bn in revenue, up 10.3% on last year, while profit climbed 11.3% to $110.3m.
Meanwhile, the Nevada Gaming Control Board has named State Senator Becky Harris as its new chairperson.
Harris become the first-ever female chairperson on the Board and will replace, A.G. Burnett who last month announced he was to step down after five years in the role.
