New Jersey posts online gambling growth, Delaware struggles

New Jersey experienced further online gaming growth in October, with revenue up 29.6% year-on-year to $16.7 million (€15.6 million).

The result, which also represents an increase on the $16.2 million generated in September, pushes revenue for the year-to-date, to $161.2 million, 32.5% more than at the same point last year.

While online gambling expanded, New Jersey’s casino market continues to suffer, with revenue down 2.7% year-on-year to €184.6 million.

Total gaming win for October amounted to €204.5 million, 0.7% lower than the corresponding month last year, while overall gaming win for the 10 months to the end of October fell 0.5% year-on-year to €2.0 billion.

New Jersey remains the most successful state in the US to have legalised online gambling, with Nevada and Delaware some way behind in terms of revenue.

In contrast, Delaware suffered its worst online poker results since October 2015, with revenue down 33% on the previous month.

The Delaware Lottery cited the performance of Dover Downs as the main reason behind this decline, with revenue at the facility down 45% on September.
