Aptos Labs fuels KGeN’s vision of gamer-controlled economies and data sovereignty

Aptos Labs spearheaded the investment round for KGeN at a $500M fully diluted valuation, accelerating the development of a circular gaming economy where players own their digital identities, driving organic user growth for studios. Participants included Polygon and Game7.

KGeN (Kratos Gamer Network), the decentralised gamer network redefining data ownership, today announced it has raised $10M in an ecosystem round led by Aptos Labs, with participation from Polygon and Game7, bringing its total funding to $30M. The investment will propel KGeN’s growth and its revolutionary approach to data sovereignty within the $250 billion gaming industry.

“KGeN is driving a major shift in how gamers own and control their data,” said Mo Shaikh, CEO of Aptos Labs. “In an industry where players often lack control, KGeN is giving them true ownership of their digital identities. We’re proud to support KGeN as they set a new standard for data ownership and use.”

KGeN’s advanced Proof of Gamer (POG) engine has already captured over 197 million gamer attributes across 93 data points, providing game developers with precise targeting and personalised marketing solutions. This has fueled KGeN’s rapid expansion in key markets such as India, Brazil and Nigeria, positioning itself as a dominant leader in the global south with 10.8 million gamers and 3.3 million monthly active users.

With its vast data repository and advanced targeting capabilities, KGeN provides game publishers and blockchain developers unparalleled insights into gamer behaviour, allowing them to drive both user acquisition and asset sales with pinpoint accuracy. The platform’s seamless integration of Web2 and Web3 ecosystems empowers developers to deliver a cohesive, engaging gaming experience. By leveraging these data-driven insights and efficient acquisition methods, KGeN’s partners have also seen reductions in customer acquisition costs (CAC) by 30%-60%, further enhancing the overall effectiveness of their marketing efforts.

“We’re excited to have believers who truly back our vision to transform gaming and data ownership,” said Manish Agarwal, elder council member, KGeN. “Aptos Labs’ roots at Meta give them a unique understanding of building communities and leveraging data to help businesses grow. Perhaps that drives their confidence in our framework that flips the script where users truly own their data.

“With this partnership, we’re set to scale the multi-chain POG engine. Our goal is to code a new paradigm for game publishing – one that’s not just profitable, but fundamentally fairer. We’re building a future where gamers have real control over their digital identities and benefit from it.”

KGeN will use the funds to scale its platform, introduce new features and expand its presence in emerging markets. Upcoming initiatives include broadening the scope of its data capabilities, strengthening partnerships with game developers and enhancing rewards and benefits for gamers. This expansion will support KGeN’s mission to create a more equitable and dynamic gaming ecosystem, where players have greater control and opportunities to monetise their digital experiences and set a circular economy in motion.
