All-In Diversity partners BSI for workplace code of practice
Gambling industry-driven inclusion initiative the All-In Diversity Project has partnered the UK’s Business Standards Institution (BSI) to develop a code of practice for diversity and equality.
The code will be made available to all businesses across all sectors as a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) from BSI. It will set out a framework and processes to be followed to create a workplace culture and environment that encourages equality and inclusion.
The new code of practice aims to provide businesses with a complete blueprint for making positive changes in the workplace, and complementi existing BSI PAS on issues such as gender and race equality.
It will be developed with input from a number of global institutions, and will be intended for use by boards, directors, leaders, mangers and HR professionals.
Areas to be covered in the code include recruitment, worker retention and advice on how to handle personnel exits, as well as workforce management, remuneration and benefits, training and development.
All-In Diversity ultimately aims to develop the PAS into a standard recognised by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace.
“Many organisations are looking at ways to improve equality and diversity in their workplace,” BSI director of standards Dr Scott Steedman said. “The aim of this PAS is to provide a framework so organizations can give every individual the chance to achieve their potential, free from prejudice and discrimination.”
All-In Diversity Project co-founder Kelly Kehn added: “This is not about us, the UK or the West imposing it’s values on the rest of the world but working with and collaborating with the world to produce a code of practice which allows any company, or entity, in any industry or sector, anywhere in the world to start to build out a framework for organisation and workplace diversity, equality and inclusion in accordance with the cultural, social, religious, legal and political environment in which they operate.”
