Scout Gaming lands Malta licence

Fantasy sports and pool betting provider Scout Gaming Group has been awarded a licence by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).

The permit will enable Scout to offer its services to operators also licensed by the MGA, including its fantasy sports platform and other new gaming content due to launch later this year.

Following the publication of its first quarter results in May, Scout revealed that its new Fantasy Match-Up game, a form of head-to-head fantasy contests, would require a sports betting licence, as the game is partially odds-based.

Scout, which is also licensed by the GB Gambling Commission, is currently active in markets across Europe and wider regions including India.

“Our player pricing is the foundation of additional odds related products, a prerequisite for launching these in Europe has been a license; hence, I’m happy that we now can initiate the roll out,” Scout chief executive, Andreas Ternstrom, said.

“We already have a couple of current clients showing interest in this, and one of the products is now live on the Indian market.”

The new licence comes after Scout last week agreed a deal to provide its content to SG Digital customers around the world, and also signed off on an agreement to provide a gaming platform for Swedish media giant Expressen.
