Gameworx chief executive Ed Mouton has become the new chairman of Europe’s lottery betting sector trade group.

Mouton replaces Elisa Field, senior legal counsel at MyLotto24, who had held the position since the European Lotto Betting Association (ELBA) was founded a year ago.

Elicia Bravo, chief strategy officer of Lottoland, was re-elected as vice chair of the association, which seeks to advance the interests of the lottery betting sector.

“It’s great to be elected to run ELBA at such an exciting time for the lotto betting sector, which is growing fast by creating new opportunities for European citizens to bet on the results of state lotteries,” said Mouton, whose company became ELBA’s sixth member earlier this year when it joined Lottoland, MyLotto24, Legacy 8 Gaming, LottoGo and MultiLotto.

“I look forward to working with the other members to promote better understanding of lotto betting, which provides a sustainable, socially responsible, online complement to state lotteries.”

Mouton paid tribute to ELBA’s work over the last year, saying the organisation has successfully debunked some criticisms of the sector and demonstrated to national authorities that lotto betting products are legitimate gambling products and based on a sustainable business model.

Bravo said: “It is great to look back at what we have achieved in the past year and I am excited to work with Ed and the rest of the members towards the development of a sensible and effective regulatory regime for our industry.”
