Grand National signs up new headline partner
Global healthcare company Randox Health has secured a deal to become the new headline partner of the Grand National Festival, the showpiece horse racing event of the UK’s racing calendar.
The agreement will run for five years, from the 2017 edition of the event through to 2021.
The event will become known as the Randox Health Grand National Festival from its 170th edition next year.
Randox Health will also become the official healthcare provider of The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in the British racing industry.
“The Grand National offers us a major public platform to raise awareness of preventative healthcare and to encourage people to take control of their health and wellbeing,” Randox Health founder and managing director, Dr. Peter FitzGerald, said.
“We see this partnership as a natural fit, as both organisations invest heavily in the future and we aim to use our partnership to promote a positive lifestyle and to bring enjoyment to millions of people.”
This year’s Grand National Festival, sponsored by ginger beer brand Crabbie’s, will take place at Aintree Racecourse from April 7-9.
John Baker, north west regional director for Jockey Club Racecourses, which runs Aintree, added: “We are already working closely with Randox Health and are excited both about their plans for the future and how they see the role of our partnership within that.
“Their vision, people and operation are very impressive, they love their racing and I am confident they will prove fantastic partners for our crown jewel.”
