Dafabet seals Asia-facing Euroleague Basketball deal
The deal runs throughout the 2020-21 Euroleague season, and marks Dafabet’s first sponsorship deal in basketball. It gains the right to use the league’s intellectual property in Asia, as well as having its brand integrated into Euroleague and EuroCup broadcasts and featuring on its social media channels.
“We are extremely gratified that Dafabet is joining our family of partners and recognises our ability to deliver a wide and diverse audience of devoted fans,” Euroleague Basketball president and chief executive Jordi Bertomeu said.
“The fact that they and other partners are coming to us from well outside our traditional markets shows again that the passionate brand of basketball played in the EuroLeague and the EuroCup is attractive well beyond the countries where our teams play their games.”
The partnership adds to a significant roster of clubs and leagues sponsored by Dafabet, which includes Scottish Premier League champions Celtic, Spanish La Liga club Cadiz, and English Championship team Norwich City.
“This agreement with Euroleague is our first step into basketball, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with a very professional organisation,” Dafabet chief executive Dimitris Karatzas said.
The operator’s head of sponsorship John Cruces added: “Basketball is viewed worldwide and one of the most followed sports across all continents. By partnering with Euroleague Basketball, we believe it will help us increase our global footprint.”
