ThePOGG and BetBlocker launch Responsible Gambling Directory
The Responsible Gambling Directory (RGD) is a multi-agency support system for vulnerable players and offers an extensive list of facilities that can help those suffering harms because of their problem gambling habits.
The resource has been divided into six general areas of support to make it easier for users navigating the site. These are phone lines, RG information, blocking gambling, support groups, therapy and emergency help. Players can look for and connect with agencies such as self-help groups, self-exclusion schemes and residential facilities.
BetBlocker said that the business aimed to find a way to make the pathway to problem gambling support resources an easy one for vulnerable players. With the help of resources from ThePOGG, the RGD was created and launched during the Safer Gambling Week 2022.
Duncan Garvie, founder and trustee at BetBlocker, said, “We are delighted that we have successfully compiled the most comprehensive list of resource available to problem gamblers across the world – the industry has been lacking this for some time. It’s great to plug another hole in the responsible gambling structure. No matter what level of intervention or support a player thinks they need, the RGD will make it possible for them to find it pretty much instantaneously.
“BetBlocker.org feel that it is in the interests of all players to allow other organisations to build this exceptional resource into their own responsible gambling sections should they wish to do so. The creation of this tool has been labour-intensive process and the result is like nothing else available to date – we see the value in allowing as many people as possible to access it and receive the help they need,” said Garvie.
This follows BetBlocker’s June announcement of their collaboration with DraftKings. They were going to collaborate with the sports betting operator to increase awareness and access to BetBlocker’s self-exclusion software.
