Sports data provider Sportradar and Formula 1 have launched in-race betting for the 2020 season.

Sports data provider Sportradar and Formula 1 have launched in-race betting for the 2020 season.

As the exclusive provider of Formula 1 data, Sportradar will use historical Formula 1 data to create new live odds models on more than 20 markets for every race this season.

The operator also hopes to follow this launch with the addition of lve betting for practice and qualifying sessions.

“We are very excited to be working with Sportradar who are world leaders in data distribution and share our passion to make F1 a significant player in this field,” Adam Crothers, head of digital media rights at Formula 1, said. “We believe this partnership will provide our fans with yet another platform to engage with the races in a manner that hasn’t been possible until now as we head into another exciting year of racing.

“For a long time now our sport has been synonymous with data as it is such a key component of F1, and this agreement will allow us to bring that data to life through Sportradar’s exciting in-race betting offering which is set to expand throughout the season.”

Sportradar’s managing director for sports partnerships David Lampitt said the agreement creates an opportunity to increase engagement among Formula 1 fans.

“Formula 1 is one of the world’s most recognised sports brands with unique commercial opportunities that continue to expand,” Lampitt said. “Introducing live in-race betting opportunities is a starting point to unlocking those opportunities and increasing interest and engagement amongst fans worldwide.”

Sportradar and Formula 1 had previously announced in August 2019 that they planned to launch in-race betting for the 2020 season via an agreement with sponsorship and data rights partner Interregional Sports Group. In its release, Sportradar did not mention Interregional Sports Group.
