Sportech joins World Tote Association
Founded in June this year through the merger of the European Pari Mutuel Association (EPMA) and the Asian African Tote Association (AATA), WoTa aims to develop integrity standards, transparency and trust in the sector.
Sportech said its membership reflected its role as both a licensed tote betting operator in Connecticut, as well as its importance to the industry as a supplier of technology to operators around the world.
“Sportech looks forward to working closely with industry participants from around the globe to help promote the values of the WoTA and to advance the health and vitality of the global pari-mutuel betting industry,” it said.
WoTA is led by Paul Cross, head of Tabcorp’s international division, and Richard Cheung, head of international business development at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, who will share the role of chair for two years.
Hasse Lord Skarplöth, chief executive of Sweden’s AB Trav och Galopp (ATG), will serve as deputy chair for this term, while Keith Johnson, chief executive of Stronach Group-owned US tote technology provider AmTote, serves as treasurer.
