The New Hampshire Lottery has reported a 25.8% month-on-month rise in sports betting revenue in June, despite the US state’s handle slipping to its lowest level since August last year.
Total revenue for the month amounted to $3.9m (£2.8m/€3.3m), up 459.9% from $691,103 in June last year, when sportsbooks in the state were closed due to novel coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions.
Revenue in June was also up from $3.1m in May and first time the state had seen a monthly increase since March.
Mobile remained the most popular form of betting among consumers, generating $2.6m in revenue in June, compared to $1.3m from land-based sportsbooks in the state.
In terms of handle, players wagered $39.3m on sports during June, up 379.3% from $8.2m in the same month last year.
However, this was 7.3% down from the $42.4m spent in May this year and also the lowest monthly total since August 2020 when consumers spent $27.5m betting on sports.
