Australian operator PointsBet has joined forces with global sports entertainment community Topgolf to offer punters premium sports betting experiences across New Jersey.

PointsBet will now serve as the exclusive sports betting partner for Topgolf at its locations in the state, including the golf experience sites in Edison and Mt. Laurel.

Guests at the Topgolf venues will have access to PointsBet-branded bar areas with in-venue media, while the two companies will work together on a social campaign increase awareness of both brands.

Topgolf and PointsBet will also jointly host a series of special events at the New Jersey sites, offering guests the chance to win premium prizes and access special promotions.

The next scheduled event will take place at both Topgolf Edison and Topgolf Mt. Laurel on March 23, with guests able to take part in a March Madness Hole in One competition. The overall winner will take away a grand prize of $25,000 (£19,200/€22,000).

Johnny Aitken, CEO for PointsBet US, said the new partnership will support the operator’s ongoing expansion plans in both New Jersey and the wider US market. PointsBet rolled out it sports betting services in New Jersey last month, as a skin under the Meadowlands Racetrack licence.

“The PointsBet-branded bar areas, with live game odds and the opportunity to unlock special offers and rewards for downloading the PointsBet mobile app, will be the essential hub for fans to experience new, one-of-a-kind VIP betting experiences,” Aitken said.

The new bar areas will complement the established facilities at Topgolf venues, which offer a premium golfing experience mixed with food and beverage and music. Guests can enjoy point-scoring golf using microchipped balls that score themselves and show players information about their shots on a TV screen in their hitting bay.

Other features at these locations include a chef-driven menu, drinks service, big screen televisions, private event spaces and music in climate-controlled hitting bays.

Topgolf Media president, YuChiang Cheng, said: “Partnering with PointsBet aligns our shared purpose of connecting people in meaningful ways to provide year-round sports entertainment to the local community.”

PointsBet, which has 45,000 active clients in Australia, first revealed its plans to move into the US when it announced the New Jersey-focused partnership with Meadowlands in July of last year.

Pending legislative authorisation, PointsBet will also launch with Tioga Downs casino in the state of New York.
