Record gaming figures for Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania recorded its best ever gambling revenue figures during 2015, with a 3.4% rise on the previous year.
The US state’s 12 casinos attracted $3.17 billion (€2.91 billion) of spending during the full year, which was just higher than the previous record set in 2012, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).
Gross revenue of $808.14 million from table games in 2015 was nearly 8% higher than revenue in 2014, while $2.37 billion was played on slot machines, up 2%.
Total gaming revenue generated since the first casino opened in Pennsylvania in 2006 now totals more than $22.6 billion.
“The casino gaming market remains strong in Pennsylvania,” said PGCB chairman David M. Barasch.
“This is good news for state residents who once again saw a return of nearly $1.4 billion in tax revenue that is used by the commonwealth and communities state-wide for a myriad of projects, and to all homeowners for a reduction in their school property taxes.”
