Sportech hits targets after ‘positive’ start to 2017
Sportech has said it is currently trading in line with management expectations after enjoying a “positive” start to the current year.
The company said that its Sportech Racing and Digital arm had an “encouraging” period from January 1 to May 23, with investment over recent years in upgrading gaming technology helping to bring in new business.
The Bump 50:50 operation within the division also continues to make progress and was able to enhance its market share.
Meanwhile, the firm said its Sportech Venues arm enjoyed a “solid” start to 2017, with progress in a number of areas.
Sportech expects its new flagship sports bar, restaurant and betting facility in the downtown Stamford area of Connecticut, US, to open within the next few weeks.
Elsewhere, Sportech said it expects the Football Pools business, which it sold in March, to be accounted for as a discontinued activity.
In addition, Sportech has confirmed the previously announced exit of Roger Wither as its chairman.
Last month, Sportech revealed that Withers was to retire from the position and he will now be replaced by Richard McGuire.
