Betsafe partners UFC star McGregor
Betsafe has named Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Conor McGregor as an EU ambassador, just weeks before the mixed martial arts fighter faces off against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in a much-anticipated bout.
The pair will meet in a boxing match in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the US, with some bookmakers forecasting that the fight could generate record betting figures.
Betsafe will offer odds of 49/1 to all new customers that McGregor will win the bout, in reference to Mayweather’s record of going 49 fights without defeat.
In addition, Betsafe branding will appear on McGregor’s shorts during the bout, while customers will have the chance to win a VIP trip to watch the fight live.
The partnership will then extend past the fight and run for the next 18 months, with Betsafe to create exclusive and innovative content related to McGregor, as well as offering betting offers to customers.
Nicola Fitton, managing director at Betsafe, said: “Conor is one of the biggest athletes in the world today, defined by his extreme talent, work ethic and personality, which are values that we reflect every day at Betsafe.
“We firmly believe that passion always overcomes the odds, and there is no sports star in the world today that both inspires and embodies passion as much as Conor.”
