International Game Technology (IGT) has appointed Lorenzo Pellicioli as its new chairman on a full-time basis.

Pellicioli is the chief executive of IGT's parent company, Italian conglomerate De Agostini, which also owns businesses in the publishing, media and communications sectors.

He has served as vice-chair of IGT since 2015, before taking over as interim chair in August this year after his predecessor Philip Satre stepped down for a new role with Wynn Resorts.

“I am honoured to serve as chairperson for IGT and I look forward to working with the directors and senior management to guide continued success in the future,” Pellicioli said.

As a result of Pellicioli moving to the role of chairman, James McCann, a director of IGT since 2015, has been named vice chair and lead independent director of the business.

McCann currently chairs the board's nominating and corporate governance committees. Outside of IGT, he has served as chief executive of flowers and gourmet foods retailers 1-800-Flowers since 1982, and chairs the board of risk management insurance brokerage Willis Towes Watson.
