Paysafe’s Skrill backs Del Piero’s LA10 venture

Digital wallet provider Skrill has agreed a major sponsorship deal with LA10 Football Club, the Los Angeles-based venture backed by legendary Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero.

Paysafe Group-owned Skrill will serve as the new front-of-jersey sponsor of the team, which only launched last September.

Skrill will also leverage the club’s and its own social media channels to promote the new partnership.

In addition, Skrill will benefit from a closer relationship with team owner Del Piero. The former Italian international and Juventus legend has been working with Skrill on a promotional level since May 2018.

“This is an important marketing investment for Skrill and Paysafe and forms a key part of our growth strategy,” Skrill CEO, Lorenzo Pellegrino, said.

“We know from experience that Alessandro is great to work with, and this latest venture is super exciting. I’m confident that together we will be able to put Skrill front of mind for millions of new customers globally.”

Del Piero, who won the Fifa World Cup with Italy in 2006, added: “Since the beginning of my partnership with Skrill, I’ve been very impressed by the technology platform and the way the brand takes care of its customers, so I’m delighted they have chosen to sponsor LA10.”

LA10 will compete in the United Premier Soccer League during the spring 2019 season.
