PointsBet pens wide-ranging sponsorship deal with NRL’s Sharks
Australian gambling operator PointsBet has agreed a deal to take on the naming rights to Shark Park, the home ground of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, as part of a new sponsorship deal with the National Rugby League (NRL) team.
The deal will run for the next four seasons, with the 22,000-capacity venue to be known as the PointsBet Stadium.
PointsBet’s branding will now also feature on the front of the Sharks’ playing jersey.
“We are thrilled to be entering a long-term partnership with the Cronulla Sharks; they have ambitious plans both on and off the field and we look forward to being part of their success,” PointsBet co-founder and chief marketing officer Andrew Fahey said.
“The announcement of PointsBet Stadium is something we are very proud of.”
Chris Highett, general manager of commercial for the Sharks, added: “PointsBet is setting new standards in the sports betting industry in Australia and around the world and we’re excited they have shown great faith in our club by partnering up with the Sharks on this long-term arrangement.”
PointsBet currently has around 45,000 active clients in Australia but has recently been focusing its expansion efforts on the US.
In July of last year, PointsBet announced a New Jersey-focused partnership with Meadowlands Racetrack, while the operator also has a deal in place to launch sports betting services with Tioga Downs casino in New York, pending legislative authorisation.
PointsBet in February also announced a new partnership with global sports entertainment community Topgolf to offer punters premium sports betting experiences across New Jersey.
