Donaco International brings in Arbuckle as new CEO
Asia-Pacific casino operator Donaco International has appointed Paul Arbuckle, previously of Australia's Star Entertainment Group, as its new chief executive.
Arbuckle has more than 30 years’ experience in casino and gaming businesses in Australia and Asia, having most recently served as chief operating officer of the Star Entertainment-owned Star Gold Coast Casino and Hotel in Queensland.
Prior to this, Arbuckle spent five years at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, first as vice president table games before being promoted to the role of senior vice president casino marketing and gaming operations.
Arbuckle also enjoyed a spell as a non-executive director at table and electronic games developer Racing Card Derby, as well as director of operations at casino operator Zagame Corporation and executive general manager for gaming at Australian gambling giant Tabcorp.
“The company has two very valuable and profitable casino assets, and I am confident that my experience in gaming operations will be beneficial to these businesses,” Arbuckle said.
“With my substantial experience in Asia, I can see potential for these businesses in serving customer demand from Thailand, China and beyond. I look forward to working with the board to implement its plan for a fresh start for the company.”
Donaco chairman Stuart McGregor added: “Paul’s experience and expertise in gaming operations is critical to improving the performance of our casino operations in Cambodia and Vietnam.
“While these businesses continue to be profitable, the board has considered for some time that they are not reaching their full potential. Accordingly, Paul’s appointment is a crucial step in the board’s plan to provide a fresh start, revitalise our businesses, and restore value for shareholders.”
Arbuckle’s appointment means that Benjamin Lim will now step down as both interim chief executive and managing director of Donaco. Gerald Tan will also leave his role as chief operating officer.
