WTA scores new data deal with Stats Perform
Under the agreement, Stats Perform will serve as the official data supplier of the WTA, delivering an exclusive umpire-derived data feed for WTA matches and an ultrafast data feed collected by the supplier’s Opta analysts.
Data collected by Opta analysts will include detailed match statistics, including rally and shot level, which Stats Perform said would to increase the level of live insight available for WTA matches and help power a new range of broadcast, second screen and betting experiences.
Stats Perform said the data feed will support its artificial intelligence capabilities, which it will leverage to bring fans closer to the sport through engaging data-driven insights and stories.
All data collected will be made available to authorised sports betting operators, broadcasters, other-the-top media, sponsors, tech and fantasy games.
“Stats Perform has a history of creating innovative and trusted content and products that drive entertainment levels and new revenue streams for the professional sports ecosystem,” WTA president Micky Lawler said.
Stats Perform chief executive Carl Mergele added: “The WTA has very ambitious goals for their tournaments and players and we’re proud to be trusted to help them reach new levels of fan and bettor engagement.
“Our broadcaster, media, and betting networks are already excited because they’ve seen how high-quality information elevates sport’s appeal.”
The new partnership comes after Stats Perform last month committed to the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA)’s new best practice standards for the collection of sporting event data.
The standards, which aim to ensure high levels of accuracy and transparency, cover three main areas: personnel vetting and training, data collation processes and data integrity and reporting.
