OpenBet names Nikos Konstakis as CEO, as Jordan Levin becomes chairman

On Tuesday OpenBet announced that Nikos Konstakis, the company’s president, would be appointed chief executive officer, with current CEO Jordan Levin to step into the role of chairman.

Konstakis brings more than eight years of senior operational and commercial experience within OpenBet. He will assume responsibility for the company’s strategy, product and technology priorities, as well as day-to-day operations. 

The firm highlighted Konstakis’ integral role in driving operational execution and shaping strategic priorities during his tenure.

Levin will immediately assume his role as chairman, while Konstakis will officially take on the CEO position at the end of the year.

Levin, who guided OpenBet through a management buyout earlier this year and secured private backing led by entertainment executive Ariel Emanuel, will remain actively engaged in shaping the firm’s long-term strategy as chairman. 

The $450 million deal saw Levin and other senior executives take control over the platform business from Endeavor.  

Levin has led the business since 2021. He previously spent three years as group CEO for Scientific Games’ digital operations.

He had a rich seven-year career with Scientific Games after it acquired Williams Interactive. Levin was managing director of Williams Interactive between 2012 and 2014.

Levin expressed strong confidence in Konstakis’ leadership, noting in a statement: “Nikos has already been instrumental in driving the evolution of OpenBet and I have tremendous confidence in his leadership as CEO. 

“I am excited to continue supporting Nikos and the wider team as we drive the next phase of OpenBet’s growth.”

Konstakis has been with OpenBet in various senior positions for five years. He has acted as COO, CPO, managing director and most recently president. He also spent time at Scientific Games, leading its global sportsbook and product operations between 2018 and 2021. He was then managing director of its Athens-based digital business.

He has a vast history in the industry, having also spent 19 years in various roles at Intralot, where he rose to group director of betting in 2015.

Konstakis said he was honoured by the appointment and emphasised his commitment to accelerating OpenBet’s development. 

“My focus will be on building on those strengths, bringing even greater pace and focus to the business and making sure we continue to set the standard in the markets we serve,” he said.

Business positioning

The leadership transition comes amid a period of commercial consolidation for OpenBet. It last week announced plans to acquire OmniLogic, a move intended to deepen its presence in the global lottery market and strengthen relationships with operators affiliated with the World Lottery Association (WLA).

It said the addition of OmniLogic would “add proven technology, specialist expertise and established customer partnerships that complement our existing capabilities and strengthen our global business”. 

OpenBet described OmniLogic as “the partner of choice for lotteries worldwide”.
