Stats Perform scores extension with Chinese Super League
Under the agreement, Stats Perform will serve the CSL’s event and tracking data provider, exclusively collecting tracking data using the SportVU system at the home venues of every CSL club.
Together with Opta event data, this tracking data will be used to supplement the league’s broadcast and digital channels, along with supporting partners including media, brands and sponsors.
Data will be delivered to the CSL through a range of Opta data feeds including advanced analytics data and predictive data for use across broadcast, digital and social platforms before, during and after matches.
The deal also includes Pressbox Graphics, an application that Stats Perform said would help the CSL deepen fan interest by producing automated visual graphics and animations, powered by Opta data.
In addition, each club will have access to ProVision, a tool that will allow them to use Opta data to undertake analysis of each team, identify tactical trends and share insights with coaches.
The data agreement extends the existing relationship between CSL and Stats Perform that began in 2016.
“We know how important data is becoming to stakeholders in providing their fans with new and engaging audience experiences,” Stats Perform’s chief rights officer Alex Rice said.
“Through the delivery of Opta data, fans of the Chinese Super League will benefit from insights derived from the industry’s leading and most reliable data source. I am also pleased that we will be able to support technical staff with visual in-game insights to help with player engagement and development.”
Stats Perform has a number of other data partnerships in place in the Asia-Pacific region such as with the Thai League, while its global partners include the English Premier League, Spain’s La Liga and Major League Soccer in the US.
