Wide-ranging agreement also extends to Caesar’s New Jersey property

Caesars Entertainment has confirmed the launch of regulated sports betting at two of its Mississippi properties in partnership with Scientific Games.

Caesars’ Horseshoe Tunica Hotel & Casino (pictured) took its first sports wager earlier this month, while Harrah’s Gulf Coast Hotel & Casino has also started accepting bets.

Scientific has now revealed that its SG Digital arm is powering sports betting services at both of the sites through its OpenBet product suite.

Last month, Caesars also announced that it was to work with Scientific on sports betting in the state of New Jersey. The Mississippi launch forms part of this wider arrangement.

Chris Armes, chief technology officer for SG Digital, said: “The launch of sports betting in Mississippi is not only a great step forward in our partnership with Caesars, but also a testament to our commitment to speed to market delivery, as we pivot our business to stay agile and adaptable.

“The deployment of Caesars sportsbooks has been one of the fastest ever deployments of our platform. Our cross-functional teams across the globe worked tirelessly from commercial sign-off through to go-live.”

Caesars is now active in Mississippi alongside Churchill Downs, which last week went live with sportsbooks at Harlow’s Casino Resort & Spa and the Riverwalk Casino Hotel under the ‘BetAmerica’ brand.

Aside from activity New Jersey and Mississippi, Scientific this month moved to take advantage of the expanding gambling market in Pennsylvania by launching virtual sports in the state.

Last month, SG Digital suggested it was well placed to pursue growth in the US sports betting market after revealing that its OpenBet platform took over 177 million bets during the Fifa World Cup.

At the time, Keith O’Loughlin, senior vice-president sportsbook and platforms at SG Digital, said that the figures demonstrated the company’s “preparedness for growth in the United States as jurisdictions in the market begin to regulate”.
