Casino supplier mix: Netent, Playtech rule but regional variations significant

Netent, Playtech and Play n’ Go dominate online casino game suppliers across Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK, but regulations and local knowledge result in considerable market variations between regions, according to iGaming Tracker's Ken Muir.

Looking at regional deviations between online casino game providers in the six countries, Muir said although within Unibet (Kindred) Netent has the largest share, its percentage varies significantly across countries, ranging from 24% to 66%.

Regulation is the primary factor accounting for the variation, explained Muir, as games suppliers such as Playtech and Microgaming tend to be first in newly regulated markets.

The local popularity of games also has an impact, for instance, Rainbow Riches by Barcrest is popular in the UK so the supplier's percentage of real estate is higher there than in other countries.

Which specific segments suppliers focus on also has an effect on their regional market share as well, said Muir. He predicted that as regulated markets mature, more variations will occur between countries due to increased competition and data-driven approaches.
