The company has also been awarded a Class 2 licence to supply software, affiliate marketing and hosting services to Headlong.

GVC is already operational in the country through its Sportingbet brand, under the terms of a licence that was granted last September.

The new licences will come into effect from September 1.

Kenneth Alexander, chief executive of GVC, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded a permanent licence in Romania.

“It is an attractive and growing market where the Sportingbet brand is increasingly popular.

“We are focused on developing our product line there in order to attract new customers and grow our business.”
