Italy iGaming Dashboard – December 2017: Bet365 back on top in betting

Stoke-headquartered operator reclaims top spot in online sports betting from Planetwin365, also showing in the top 10 for online casino
Bet365 reclaimed top spot in online sports betting in Italy in November, as a €135.7m monthly return from the dot.it market saw the online GGR generated by licensed operators in the year to date break through the $1.2bn barrier. According to estimates exclusively provided to iGaming Business by leading gaming sector advisory firm Ficom Leisure, Bet365 claimed 16.8% of the €72.2m generated online in betting by Italian punters in December. The performance placed it comfortably ahead of Planetwin365’s 13.3%, ending the multi-channel operator’s reign at the head of the market which began in September.  The €12.1m in online betting revenues the Stoke-headquartered operator generated in November also gave it a 7.1% share of the total licensed market for sports betting in Italy, despite not having a retail presence in the country. In casino, Lottomatica edged ahead of Sisal, its market share of 9.4% putting it well ahead of one-time leader PokerStars, which claimed top spot in June little more than two years after adding casino to its product offering in the dot.it market.
