Pokabunga is to become the second online poker operator to launch its services in India after parent company WYZ Games India Private secured a skill gaming licence in Nagaland.

The Pokabunga.com site hosts skill-based games of poker and rummy, offering formats such as Texas Hold ‘em and Pot Limit Omaha.

Pokabunga will now join established platform Khelo365.com in India’s regulated online poker market.

Last month, Amaya-owned PokerStars also stated its desire to secure a licence and launch services in the country early next year.

Gaurav Gaggar, director of WYZ Games India Private, said: “This is a game changer for India as it allows serious and ethical companies to cater to clients as differentiated from other fly-by-night operators; clients and other stakeholders of the industry gain with more transparency.

“Regulation ensures player protection and relative safety for payment gateways.”
