Rank Group hails digital growth after revenue jump

Rank Group has cited the performance of its Grosvenor digital business as one of the main reasons behind a year-on-year increase in revenue during the 19 weeks to May 8.

Rank Group has cited the performance of its Grosvenor digital business as one of the main reasons behind a year-on-year increase in revenue during the 19 weeks to May 8.

Total revenue was up 2% in comparison with the same period last year, while like-for-like revenue increased by 3%.

Rank noted like-for-like revenue growth of 4% within its Grosvenor Casinos arm, with total revenue up by 3%. Its Mecca business saw like-for-like revenue increase by 1%, but total revenue drop by the same figure.

Total revenue from Rank’s digital operations increased by 6% year-on-year, with digital revenue from its Grosvenor Casinos business rocketing by 35%.

Henry Birch, chief executive of the Rank Group, said: “I am pleased with the group's performance during this 19-week period; we have seen continued like-for-like revenue growth across all of our brands and the performance in our Grosvenor digital business has been particularly encouraging.

“During the period we launched our new digital platform which was delivered both on time and on budget.

“This is an important development for the group and we look forward to the benefits the increased functionality will bring.”

Rank also said that it expects to announce its full-year results on August 18.
