SciPlay, the former social games subsidiary of Scientific Games, has appointed former Electronic Arts executive Michael Marchetti as a director.

Marchetti, who will also serve on the SciPlay of the audit committee, is currently chief financial officer of education technology innovator Age of Learning and acts as chairman of the audit committee for TechStyle Fashion Group.

Prior to this, Marchetti was a founding executive and finance chief of JAMDAT Mobile, one of the first publicly traded mobile gaming companies in the US, which was later acquired by Electronic Arts.

Following the purchase, Marchetti went on to become senior vice president, chief operating officer of Electronic Arts’ interactive division.

Marchetti later served as chief executive of Buffalo Studios, the developer behind the Bingo Blitz social game, which was sold to Playtika, then owned by Caesars Interactive, in January 2013.

“We’re excited about our board’s decision to appoint Marchetti as SciPlay's newest director,” SciPlay chief executive, Josh Wilson, said. “He is an experienced technology and social gaming pro, with extensive financial and leadership skills.

“Serving on our audit committee, Marchetti will be instrumental to SciPlay’s continued growth as we work towards our goal of becoming the no.1 casual mobile gaming company in the world.”

Scientific Games announced plans to spin off its SciPlay business in April of this year. The social gaming arm began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market in May following an initial public offering.
