Online gaming platform provider SkillOnNet is to expand its services into the Spanish market for the first time after securing a licence in the country.

Awarded by national gambling regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), the new licence will enable SkillOnNet to offer consumers in the market access to its proprietary and white-label online casino brands.

PlayOJO, SlotsMagic, PlayMillion, AhtiGames and Cozino will be among the set of brands to go live in the country, while future white-label partner brands will also launch in the country as and when SkillOnNet secures new deals.

SkillOnNet, which already holds licences in the UK, Malta, Denmark, Sweden and the German state of Schleswig Holstein, had been prioritising a launch in Spain due to ongoing growth in the county’s online casino sector.

Michael Golembo, sales and marketing director at SkillOnNet, has said that the provider hopes to build on this by using the new licence as a gateway to Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America.

“We saw how impressively the market had grown over the past 12 months and decided to prioritise obtaining a licence from the DGOJ and launching in the country,” Golembo said.

“We plan to be a leading player in the Spanish casino market as we have done in all markets we have entered before. We also see Spain as a gateway to Spanish-speaking Latin American markets in the future.”

Last week, it was revealed that Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) and LeoVegas had also secured new licences to begin operating in the Spanish market. Both GiG and LeoVegas are now permitted to offer online casino and sports betting in the country.
