Spanish regulator the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has reported a 27% year-on-year increase in online gambling revenue for the first quarter.
Total online revenue hit €163.3m ($190.6m) in the opening three months of the year, and while this was up on the corresponding period in 2017, the result was down 5.7% from the amount collected in the final quarter of last year.
Online casino revenue jumped 51% year-on-year to €56.6m, more than half of which was attributable to slot games (52.7%).
Sports betting rose by 15.9% year-on-year to €81.7m, representing just over half of overall online revenue for the period, but this figure was down 21.1% on the final quarter of 2017.
The DGOJ also reported a year-on-year increase in online poker revenue, due in part to its shared liquidity activities with France and, more recently, Portugal.
Online poker revenue totalled €21.5m in the first quarter, with cash games up almost 30% to €8.4m and tournaments by 50.2% to just over €13m.
In addition, online bingo jumped almost 30% year-on-year to €3.5m.
