Finnish operator Veikkaus has joined forces with Austria’s win2day to launch the industry’s first cross-border poker network.

Powered by Playtech, the joint network will use liquidity from the player bases of both Veikkaus and win2day, with a range of omni-channel poker products to be offered via the dedicated, Playtech-powered iPoker network.

The launch marks the first time in the gaming market that two regulated entities have teamed up to share cross-border poker liquidity.

The Finnish Ministry of Interior and the Austrian Ministry of Finance have both given approval to the liquidity-sharing agreement.

Shimon Akad, chief operating officer of Playtech, said: “This is a milestone in poker and the gaming industry, and we’re delighted to be at the heart of yet another industry-first providing two great brands with the leading poker network and a series of leading products that I’m confident will prove a huge success going forward.”
