Yggdrasil games to be made available in Spain for the first time with GVC

Yggdrasil Gaming is to enter the Spanish igaming market later this year after reaching an agreement with existing partner GVC.

GVC will be the first operator to offer Yggdrasil titles in the market, from Q2 2018, in compliance with Spanish requirements.

GVC already has a strong presence in Spain, particularly with consumer-facing brand bwin.

The Spanish online gaming market has enjoyed growth in recent years, having added slots to its offering in 2015.

According to regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), online gaming revenues were up 37% year-on-year for Q3 2017, to €140.5m.

Yggdrasil Gaming CEO Fredrik Elmqvist said: “Spain has quickly emerged as one of Europe’s fastest-growing and exciting jurisdictions, making it a perfect environment for Yggdrasil’s award-winning slots and promotional tools.

The slots provider’s presence in Spain follows recent launches in Denmark and Italy, as it pursues strategy of expansion in Europe’s regulated markets.

GVC head of content Andrew Whitworth (pictured with Yggdrasil’s Andrew Pegler said) welcomed the partnership with Yggdrasil in Spain, saying: “We are certain they will perform strongly in the market.”
