Slightly Edgy opens wide with Toothless Smile: a horror-satire slot drilling straight to the bonus
Slightly Edgy, the mechanics-first slot studio, has released Toothless Smile, a darkly comic horror-satire slot distributed globally through Yggdrasil. Set in the surgery of the Demon Dentist of Dent Street, the game trades jump scares for sharp mechanics: a 5×5 grid, 40 paylines and a bonus structure where every symbol earns its place.
True to the studio’s “no dead symbols” philosophy, Toothless Smile layers its features with intent. The X-ray sheet drops random multipliers of 2x to 5x (max one per reel), stacking when several land at once. Painkiller Pills on reels 2 and 4 trigger 10 retriggerable free spins, while Fake Teeth send players down to the dentist’s basement for a Pick-a-Prize bonus – five, 10, or 15 picks depending on the trigger, each shattering a jar to reveal cash prizes, extra picks and multipliers.
For players who want action on every spin, Golden Bet guarantees X-ray multipliers between 2x and 5x on every single spin, and a Buy Bonus option offers a direct route into 10 or 20 free spins or up to 15 basement picks.
Toothless Smile is a medium-high volatility release with a default max win of €96,214 (9,621.4x), a 94% global RTP, and a 23.6% hit frequency.
The Slightly Edgy marketing team said: “You can’t separate the theme from the mechanics in Toothless Smile; that’s the point. The X-ray multipliers play out like a real X-ray, right down to the period-correct purple. The Fake Teeth drop you into a basement that’s entirely dental. If the mechanics were different, this wouldn’t be a horror game. Nothing on screen is decoration, and nothing on screen is filler.
“When the Slightly Edgy team pitched the concept, I knew straight away I wanted to work on it because I’m a huge fan of dark and creepy atmospheres,” said Yana Hoha, senior animator.
“While developing the art style, I pictured it as a window into Sweeney Todd’s house, where players can peek into the character’s world. My focus was on bringing that atmosphere to life by combining different worlds and adding details that make the environment feel creepy and interesting, rather than scary.”
Toothless Smile is available to all operators live with Yggdrasil from 28 July 2026, with availability varying by jurisdiction.
