WorldGaming runners set the pace for CHIPS charity

WorldGaming’s Royal Parks Half Marathon runners raised vital funds to help CHIPS transform young lives through specialist wheelchairs.

A team of intrepid WorldGaming runners comprising ICE Barcelona Portfolio Director Margaret Dunn, Head of Brand, Partnerships and PR Jody Frost, Group Operations Director Verena Lester and Senior Operations Manager Rebecca Davis has completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon, raising funds for WorldGaming charity partner CHIPS.

Founded by members of the gaming industry, CHIPS has raised in excess of £4.5 million to purchase bespoke wheelchairs for young people with profound mobility issues.

The CHIPS custom-built, specialised powered wheelchairs give children independence, freedom and happiness, helping to transform the lives of recipients and their families.

“We were all incredibly proud to run for such a wonderful charity,” stated Margaret Dunn. “CHIPS was born out of the gaming industry and there was a great sense of solidarity as we joined industry colleagues raising money for such a great cause.

“As a group of industry runners, I understand that we have raised sufficient funds to purchase an additional chair and edge CHIPS closer to its 800th presentation – a tremendous landmark which is on course to be completed as the global industry meets at ICE Barcelona in January.

“What’s particularly significant about CHIPS is that it is run exclusively by volunteer Trustees drawn from the gaming industry with every penny raised going towards the purchase of wheelchairs, which makes CHIPS one of the most effective and efficient organisations in the charitable third sector.

“WorldGaming’s relationship with CHIPS began over a decade ago and has seen it present a total of 20 wheelchairs on behalf of the charity. Our Royal Parks Half Marathon run builds on Managing Director Stuart Hunter’s efforts in 2025, when he raised much-needed funds by completing the gruelling 21km (13.1 mile) Spartan Beast – a trail course comprising 30 obstacles and regarded as one of the most challenging endurance races for amateur athletes.”
