Bet365 could bid to acquire William Hill’s Australian business, according to The Australian newspaper.

Last month, William Hill said it would listen to offers for its Australian arm over fears that a crackdown on gambling in the country could hit profit at the firm.

Hill forecast an 11% year-on-year increase in overall profit for 2017, but said concerns over changing regulation in Australia could hamper further growth.

Bet365 is the latest name to be linked with a possible move for the business, after local media reports in Australia also cited interest from Ladbrokes Coral and Paddy Power Betfair.

William Hill, along with Bet365, Ladbrokes Coral and Paddy Power Betfair, are all active in Australia through licences held in the Northern Territory.
